In 2008, while looking around Eric Berne’s old study in Carmel Califorinia, Eric’s son Terry Berne uncovered an unpublished and previously unknown manuscript detailing Eric’s childhood days in Montreal. This manuscript became the newly published A Montreal Chilhood , the first new publication by Dr. Eric Berne in nearly 40 years.
The book talks of Eric’s life growing up as a secular Jew in French-Canadian Montreal and includes his thoughts on everything from the death of his physician father to the state of affairs of Canadian rugby. The book was officially unveiled at the Eric Berne Centenary Conference in Montreal in August 2010. A must read for anyone interested in learning more about Eric Berne.
This is the first new publication by Dr. Eric Berne in nearly 40 years. It is in the process of being translated into other languages besides English.
A direct quote of Eric Berne from this book is: “So there was I, a direct descendant of Adam and Eve, facing the world at seventeen. The most important things I owned were in my head.”
The book is in print and is available for purchase on Amazon.com.
